Bay County Alzheimer's Alliance, Inc

The Bay County Alzheimer’s Alliance {BCAA} was founded in May 2005 to serve as an educational resource for individuals who suffer from Alzheimer’s and/or any other dementia related illness, and their caregivers. The group consists of volunteers working together to achieve this mission. The Bay County Alzheimer’s Alliance began as a vision by Lee Harrell of Home Instead Senior Care, and has truly become a viable resource for the community.  The BCAA sponsors two functions a year.

The first event is An Evening in Monte Carlo which is used to raise funds. “The funds raised by this event are used to educate caregivers and the community at the annual Caregiver’s Conference Community Dialogue on Aging that is sponsored by the Bay County Alzheimer’s Alliance,” explains Debbi Geiger, RN, a Board Member. With the “graying of America”, more people are facing the challenges of caring for their elderly loved ones and the more resources available to them, the better.

The second event put on by the Alzheimer’s Alliance is the annual Caregiver’s Conference. The purpose of this event is to provide a forum where caregiver’s attend and can educate themselves on the different aspects of care giving and understanding the disease process better. This conference has been and continues to be a great resource for families that are caring for loved ones with a diagnosis of dementia.

The BCAA meets monthly to discuss better ways to provide education and resources to the local community.
